SalesForce in India

Posted by viralblogger on October 28, 2007

SalesForce has been going on a World Tour. They recently hit India (Zoho land!) too.

This is getting more and more interesting as the days progress. SF seems to have scented the heat and has turned on all its charms.

I also hear that SugarCRM (allegedly open source CRM) too is doing the rounds nowadays. There was a tough competition with vtiger for Sugar and am not sure if Sugar won that.

The market is hot and the competition getting hotter.

With SF in the bed with Google and almost vying to get married to Google (aka merger/takeover by Google), things are looking a little hot for the competition.

I hate the top-dogs and wish that Zoho wins! Not only because it is small, but because it is versatile too. There is so much that Zoho can do with its arsenal of Zoho products. If they can get their integration act together, then there will be nothing like it in the world, not even Google!

You do not have to believe me, have a look at zoho.com to know the details. Man, they are amazing. Even google does not have the repertoire that these Zoho folks have. Wonder who is driving them and what is driving them. These guys just came to the scene around a year or so and look what they have done. They are KICKING ASS!

Wonder if Google will kick out SalesForce and approach Zoho for a buy-out. Now that will be interesting, ain’t it?!

I am using Zoho too,… and I am sure that they will become a better brand then tey are right now.
But I am asking you, what about the Open Social?
Do you think that zoho will adopt it?
If it does, than google will rock, if not, the developers will not use the zoho API anymore.

    What do you think ?

I think Zoho will provide similar features in its platform down the line. Yes, it is possible that Zoho may embrace Open Social too (even if for just the time being).

Google will be having the upper hand initially but one also needs to see how serious it is about that. Open Social is a good idea but I doubt its rate of adoption. It is like a silver bullet to all the various APIs that each social networking site has. But as we know, there is no social bullet.

Zoho as of now is working on API availability across its services. This is a big positive step. This will ensure that developers are able to get their data out of the Zoho platform to integrate else where. This also will mean that Open Social too will be providing handles to the Zoho APIs one way or the other and that will only increase Zohos credibility.

It will be interesting these changes.

The result is going to be out in another 7 months or so when Zoho will have its business plan figured and would have gone commercial with Zoho Business.

Moreover, ZOHO is now actively pushing Zoho CRM. You can see the Google Ads that are coming out (Pretty ironic that Zoho is using Google Ads to campaign itself, nah?).

People think it is a David Vs Goliath story. But I do not think so anymore.
One really has to question the core competency of Google and that of the Zoho folks.
Google is as of now basically a 1-trick pony with the Search feature. The rest are mere addendums which are result of some cerebral guy sitting and churning out his fantasy. It is no doubt good but how practical and commercially viable will these offerings be.

Right now, Google is going progressing from Search to Wireless to 3G to Underwears. But what is it that we know Google for – Search. So there you go.

Now apply the same question to Zoho. What do you know Zoho for? Coherent Online Web Applications.
    These are 2 distinct fields.

I regret the delay in responding. I had taken some time off to empty my brain.
