ZohoOnlineHealth/GoogleHealth????

Posted by viralblogger on October 5, 2007

In a country like India, getting access to high-tech medical treatment is a miracle in itself considering the fact that India is not as advanced as the other “Developed” nations.

India with its booming population will be an ideal market for online medical services. This will be a paradigm shift in the sense that no-one keeps one’s medical records online yet in the world. Zoho can do good in this area. ZohoOnlineHealth could be the proper name I guess ;-) .

There was talk of Google Health which will be providing similar services but there is no concrete news on that front for quite sometime. Knowing Google, I will not be surprised if they do release it one fine day.
Having said the above, it will be interesting to see how people do move toward this kind of service. It will be good to have a service which acts like a forum for all the patients/doctors around the world who can share information/expertise across the Net. The forum provider could get a percentage of this. Putting up Health information online is one thing, but making use of it for social benefit is altogether another. The latter is where I see a very very big growth area.

The Social Benefit factor also provides a security angle. If there be any quacks, then they will be soon filtered out and that makes the patient more safe. The n number of possibilities of having multiple opinions too counts a lot since getting a second opinion is always dicey. It puts the doctors’ reputations at stake.

Let us see who achieves this summit first.
